Feature Friday — ERodney Davis’ Ownership Journey

ree

As the story goes, on ERodney’s first 24 hours in New York City, he was asked to be the personal assistant of celebrity makeup artist, Sam Fine, who taught him how to manage an enterprise over a decade later.

“I started with just one client, and before I realized it, I was running a business. My purpose found me, not the other way around.”

After working as a corporate advertiser for 11 years, he took a chance on himself in the mid 2000s.

At the time, he was afraid that he wasn’t making the right choice, that he wasn’t good enough, that he would fail. He was stricken with impostor syndrome and worried he wouldn’t be able to stand beside his high-profile clientele. That was then.

Now, he’s the Founder and CEO of Basic White Shirt LTD., a creative talent agency that represents a collection of top-tier celebrity hairstylists, makeup artists, tailors, and influencers.

Though some of his fear remains, it pales in comparison to the freedom, flexibility, and agency he gained through pursuing ownership. A journey that was anything but basic.

His advice for aspiring entrepreneurs? “Save your money, about a year's worth of expenses. If I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have been able to give myself the cushion I needed to put in the time it took to start my business.”

We are honored to feature ERodney and his journey which has inspired others to follow in his footsteps. Visit his website and Instagram:
